“Mo.Na.: Monuments in Nature: A creative Co-existence”
Forum in Istanbul: “Ecumenical Initiative for the Protection of Environment and Culture”

The European Centre for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments (EKBMM) in the framework of Mo.Na Project, “Mo.Na: Monuments in Nature: A Creative Co-existence” co-organizes with the Ecumenical Patriarchate the Forum entitled “Ecumenical Initiative for the Protection of Environment and Culture”. The Forum will take place on September 4th – 5th, 2021 in Istanbul, in Sismanogleio Megaro and in Chalki, in Theological School.

The European Centre for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments (EKBMM) implements the project Mo.Na: Monuments in Nature: A Creative Co-existence (https://www.monumentnature.com/), funded by the INTERREG V – Balkan -Mediterranean 2014-2020.The Project aims to record, analyse, assess and contribute towards the protection and promotion of natural resources and cultural heritage across the Balkan-Mediterranean territory. Its main goal is to enhance integrated planning and common management strategies in areas of high environmental interest and preservation value (Natura 2000, Ramsar areas etc.), where sites of high cultural importance also exist (UNESCO protected areas, etc.).

In the Forum Greek, Turkish, Bulgarian, Cypriot and Albanian experts and teachers will present projects and educational initiatives aiming to raise awareness of the youth as well as of the general public on topics related to the protection of environment and culture.
