Implementation of a Study for the Preservation of the Frescoes at the Church of Agios Nikolaos in Moschopolis (2013)

In 2013, EKBMM prepared a study for the preservation of the 18th century frescoes in the church of Agios Nikolaos in Moschopolis, in the area of Korytsa. The historic Moschopolis, the most historic Vlach-speaking settlement during the Turkish occupation, experienced great economic growth during the 18th century. This fact is reflected in the five churches that survived the ruins of the past. The frescoes of the church of Agios Nikolaos document the links of the area with Mount Athos, Thessaloniki and Kastoria, as well as the networks of movement of painters, artistic currents and ideas.
