The EKBMM has completed successfully in the framework of the program “Information Society”, the project: “Anna Komnene. Creation and promotion of electronic multilingual editions and of an information portal on monuments of the Byzantine period”. The project is essentially a pilot application of a three-language database and of an internet information portal for monuments of the Byzantine world. The Internet portal currently contains information (texts, photographs, plans, bibliography) on 50 monuments, in English, French and Greek, while a book and CD-ROM entitled “Byzantine Monuments in the Information Society” have also been published in those three languages. The project was launched in September 2004 and completed at 31-12-2006.
The project “Anna Komnene” was presented in the European multilingual internet portal of the program “MICHAEL” from 13-19/10/2008 as the Collection of the Week. The program “MICHAEL”, in which 15 European countries participate, aims at the promotion of digital cultural heritage. “Anna Komnene” is also presented in the bilingual (Greek – English) portal of the program “MICHAEL” in Greece, with other projects of cultural digitization implemented in the framework of the program “Information Society”.
